Confrontational Ceramics was an opportunity to showcase some of the 242 artists featured in her
book with the same title published by AC Black, London, 2008.
The exhibition focused on the work of a group of artists who employ clay to expose human inequities. Making use of satire, caricature, parody, erotica, and the grotesque in their work, the artists question, criticize, jolt and lampoon hallowed traditions, providing critical social commentary as an intrinsic element of cultural discourse. The significance of the exhibition lies in the demonstration of the unique and non-traditional role clay now plays in illuminating the social condition.
